Senate candidate visits MU campus
COLUMBIA - Jason Kander brought his campaign to U.S. Senate to a University of Missouri political science course Friday. Kander delivered a lecture on students with college affordability issues and ways in which he plans to over come them.
“If we’re going to change Washington, we got to change the people we send there,” Kander said.
The former Iraq veteran and Missouri Secretary of State feels the millennial generation is ready.
“It is suggested somehow that the millennial generation is not interest in being involved, but that is not the case at all. I’m a millennial myself and its very clear that the millennial is interested in being a part of a new generation of leadership,” said Kander.
Students were able to register to vote after class, as Kander’s campaign team brought registration forms for students.
“My whole purpose for getting him to speak to the class is to get the students exited about the campaign and excited about political science,” said political science professor Bill Horner, the political science professor.
The general election will be held on November 8, 2016.
