Senate Hopefuls Akin, Steelman to Debate
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Two of the three Republicans seeking to challenge incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill are debating Tuesday in the St. Louis area.
KTRS Radio and the St. Louis Beacon are hosting the debate at Missouri Athletic Club West in St. Louis County. U.S. Rep. Todd Akin and former state Treasurer Sarah Steelman are scheduled to appear without the third Republican candidate, businessman John Brunner, who did not accept the invitation.
The debate will stream live on Facebook and on the KTRS website.
The winner of the August Senate primary will face McCaskill in the November general election. Experts say the race is shaping up to be close.
