Monday marked the beginning of a new Medicare drug enrollment assistance program.

For many seniors, Medicare can be a very confusing topic. The internet is the most useful way to figure out how the program works. Counselors are walking seniors through the program benefits. Many seniors are unsure of how to use internet resources.

Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder chairs the prescription drugs commission and helped kick off the clinic.

"...regarding escalating prescription drug costs," Kinder said.

The burden of escalating drug costs can hit seniors hard. Kinder hopes this counseling will help seniors find the best prescription drug plan for them. Simply choosing the right plan can save seniors about 50% on their drug costs.
