COLUMBIA - Police said Wednesday they have arrested Lee Wyatt Carter in connection with the October 23 robbery and murder of 22-year-old Aaron Hobson. Hobson was shot and killed on the parking lot of the Break Time Convenience Store at 110 East Nifong Boulevard. According to the passenger in the victim's vehicle, the victim and passenger were approached by several black males who demanded the victim's money. After the victim was shot, several suspects, including Carter, ran from the area. Carter was identified by viewing the video surveillance footage from the business where this incident occurred.

On November 9, Carter was arrested for second-degree murder and second-degree robbery, with a to-be-set bond. He was transported to the Boone County Jail.  Carter provided a post Miranda statement implicating himself in this incident. Carter admitted that he assaulted the victim with a bottle.

Police have arrested six other suspects. They are Leo Roland, Tony Lewis, Deshon Houston, Daron Peal, Darrin Peal, and Anthony Carr.

Investigators identified Daron Peal as the suspect who pulled the trigger on Hobes. Regardless, all seven suspects are charged with robbery and murder.

"Due to being involved in the felony, someone is injured or murdered or there's weapons violations, you can be charged with those charges as well, especially the murder charge," Jill Weineke, Public Information Officer, said. "That's what's happened in this case is that even though the other six people didn't pull the trigger, they were still involved in a felony that resulted in the murder of Aaron Hobes."

Weineke said investigators still need to talk with a handful of other people.

"If they determine or someone comes in and says that they were involved, they may or may not be arrested based on how the interview goes," Weineke said.

Weineke said this may or may not be the final suspect arrested for the felony.
