Shakespeare's celebrates 45 years of making pizza
COLUMBIA - Shakespeare's Pizza celebrated its 45th anniversary on Saturday at all three locations.
During the lunch hour, the the downtown location was packed as families and friends gathered to celebrate, eat pizza and drink beer.
Shakespeare's introduced a new beer with the help of Logboat Brewing Company. The restaurant debuted the Pilsner beer when it opened for the day.
“It's an easy drinking beer. It has a little bitter end to it,” said Toby Epstein, manager of Shakespeare's downtown.
Customers are only able to purchase the beer at Shakespeare’s locations.
Some customers said they have been coming to Shakespeare's since college and have many memories of late nights and dinners after football games.
One couple said they actually signed their marriage license at the downtown Shakespeare’s location.
