Shakespeare's Pizza demolition delayed, scheduled for Monday
COLUMBIA - Columbia Public Works said Wednesday the demolition of Shakespeare's Pizza was delayed to Monday June 15. The work was supposed to begin Wednesday.
Public Works said Emery Sapp and Sons would begin demolition Monday at 8:00 a.m. It said the work would shut down the sidewalk along the north side of Elm Street between 8th and 9th streets.
Shakespeare's manager Kurt Mirtsching told KOMU 8 News Tuesday, "Personally I've worked in that building for 38 years, all my adult life, and it's gonna be something seeing it go."
Sidewalks were expected to be closed for about a month for demolition. Public Works initially said the sidewalks would re-open July 9, weather permitting.
