Sheriff: Man admits to using KIK to have sex with, solicit minors
COLE COUNTY - Authorities charged a man Wednesday with having sex with a minor and soliciting sex and nude photos from multiple other minors using the KIK app.
A probable cause statement from the Cole County Sheriff's Office said Andrew Clayton, 38, admitted having sex with a 14-year old boy. Deputies also said Clayton admitted he had met many other young boys and often asked them to perform oral sex.
Clayton was arrested in March after several juveniles came forward saying that a man in his mid-thirties was talking with a few boys in the same friend group. A 17-year-old provided the police with an address for the suspect.
Deputies said Clayton also had a fake KIK account that he portrayed himself as an 18-year-old girl and solicited nude photos of juveniles.
Clayton is charged with promoting child pornography, enticing a child, statutory sodomy and promoting sexual performance by a child, all in the Cole County area.
The case was first reported to the sheriff's department in March, when a 15-year-old boy said he was being sexually enticed. Deputies then interviewed several juveniles who were all friends and saying there were in contact with the suspect using the KIK app. One eventually supplied an address and vehicle for Clayton, who was arrested during a traffic stop.
