COLUMBIA - The Boone County Sheriff's department has new information Tuesday that could lead them to two fugitives.  The two men fled from a car during a routine traffic stop a midnight Monday in West Columbia. Detective Thomas O'Sullivan refused details, but did claim they have good information on the suspects.

O'Sullivan said the car was pulled over as a part of a traffic stop Monday night on Scott Boulevard. When searching the vehicle, Boone County Sheriff's deputies discovered two loaded semi- automatic pistols. One of the pistols was a 40 caliber the other a 45 that had the serial number defaced.

O'Sullivan said three men and one women were riding in the car. The three men took off running but the women stayed in the car. The women told the deputies that she did not know the three men and was only getting a ride. She was released because she had no charges against her and she had no criminal activity.

One of the men, Maurice Penny Jr. was caught and arrested for felony possession of a firearm because, as a convicted felon, it is illegal for him to have a gun. He also faces charges of possession of a defaced firearm and resisting a lawful detention. Penny posted a $5,500 bond.

Police continue to look for the two others who ran from the vehicle as the investigation into their identity continues.
