COLUMBIA - Columbia police officers were dispatched to east Columbia Tuesday afternoon after receiving several reports of shots being fired. According to police reports, a 17 year old male arrived at Women's and Children's Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound shortly after officers were dispatched.

Investigators have confirmed that one residence was hit multiple times with gunfire, and have begun performing interviews and processing the scene for any evidence.

According to the Columbia Police Department, "officers have been canvassing the area searching for any possible witnesses or suspects." Although the investigation is in its beginning stages, detectives do not believe this was a random incident.
