Showing Support For Shakir Hamoodi
Speakers called Hamoodi a man of faith and a spokesperson for peace. Participants wanted to show support for Hamoodi and his family, but they also voiced their concerns about the search.
"This is certainly support for Shakir," said Larry Brown with the Inter-Faith Peace Alliance. "Not only for who he is as a person but for what he has done as a citizen in this community and this country and the world. As a representative of Islam, but one that has been able to find ways that people can cooperate across religious boundaries, and across cultural barriers. So this is really a round of support."
Many of the people who attended Wednesday morning's event in Columbia are also going to Jefferson City to present the FBI office with a letter outlining their concerns and questions about the search.
