Snow Leaves Leaky Roof
Baker said buckets of water fell from the ceiling, damaging tiles, electronic equipment and teaching supplies. She said Parkade may need a new roof, but the Columbia Board of Education said the school district doesn't have enough money.
"We are going to the voters for the money, the resources, to continue to implement that plan," said Assistant Superintendent Lynn Barnett, who added that next April's school bond issue will include funds to pay for a new roof at Parkade.
Administrators, teachers and students' parents also worry about mold at Parkade because of water damage. Environmental specialists finished air-quality tests Friday morning and expect to have the results by the end of next week.
