Snyder Resignation Investigation Done
Although the two investigators interviewed 19 people, including UM System President Elson Floyd, Athletic Director Mike Alden and Missouri broadcaster Gary Link, their report revealed little new information.
But, the 11-page report confirmed a rocky relationship between Snyder and Alden.
Link, who is a friend to both men, was the go-between in several of their conversations, including Feb. 9, when Link told Snyder that Alden already had decided to fire the coach at the end of this basketball season.
Link refused to cooperate in an initial investigation by MU Chancellor Brady Deaton, which the UM Board of Curators said was inadequate. That's what led to Floyd's appointment of the two outside investigators.
Link told the investigators Alden told him the firing had the support of Floyd, Deaton and Board of Curators member Don Walsworth.
The investigators' report said MU handled the situation so badly that the university looked inept to the public.
The Athletic Department now hopes to concentrate on hiring a new men's basketball coach. The department has not released names of possible candidates.
