Special Needs Playground Opens
The Jack Dylan Kindling Family Commons is a playground for children with disabilities. Rebecca Reno has two young boys, but she doesn't like to take them to a city playground.
"They're a little unstable so things are too high, or have openings as you go up into the tubes or the walking areas," Reno said.
This playground isn't just for kids with disabilities.
"Adaptive playground means that it can be enjoyed by people of all different abilities. It's accessible to wheelchairs or walkers, " Family Resources executive director Les Wagner said.
One feature parents said they like about the playground is the green foam that covers the ground. The foam is about eight inches deep and prevents kids from getting hurt.
Dixie construction built the playground with the help of a donation from the Kindling family.
