Speeding Up Voting
Clerk Wendy Noren and engineers are working to get the machines ready, so voters can use scanners or touch-screen machines. Training for paid workers and volunteers on the touch-screens was supposed to start a month ago, so Noren hopes they will be ready for the Aug. 8 election.
"I'm trying not to cut any of our original planning," she said. "We are still doing all the testing we originally planned to do. We will still do the planning we originally planned to do, only it's all being compressed into a very short period of time."
Noren said scanners will be ready for Aug. 8, so even if the touch-screen machines are not, the election will go on.
