SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A 44-year-old woman who federal prosecutors say was at the center of a large methamphetamine ring run by her former boyfriend has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison.

Donette Davis was sentenced Thursday to 22 months for her role in a drug ring that prosecutors say pumped hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine into the Springfield area.

The Springfield News-Leader reports Davis began cooperating with federal prosecutors after the meth ring was broken up.

Her attorney, Alison Hershewe, says Davis has turned her life around since being involved in the drug ring.

Davis and her then-boyfriend, Kenneth Friend, were arrested while on their way to buy several pounds of meth on Thanksgiving 2014.

She was one of 29 people indicted in the case. Friend is awaiting sentencing.
