ST. CHARLES (AP) -- A St. Louis alderman is dead after the truck he drove for work collided with a tractor-trailer.
The accident early Wednesday killed 27th Ward Alderman Gregory Carter, a four-term alderman from a prominent political family. He was 54.
Carter has worked as a driver for UPS for 28 years. He was driving the UPS truck on Highway 370 in St. Charles County around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday when his truck apparently struck the rear of a tractor-trailer that was stopped to assist a previous accident. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was no immediate word on the condition of others involved in the wreck.
Carter was the son of the late state Sen. Paula Carter.
