St. Louis Area Superintendent Placed on Leave
FLORISSANT - The superintendent of a St. Louis County school district has been placed on indefinite administrative leave.
KMOV-TV reports the Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education made the decision Wednesday night to put superintendent Art McCoy on paid leave.
Board president Paul Morris issued a statement Thursday saying the decision was based on "differences in focus and philosophy" between McCoy and the board. Morris added there was no indication of wrongdoing.
McCoy has led the Ferguson-Florissant district since July 2011.
The district says on its website that it has more than 12,000 from preschool through 12th grade. Its chief accountability officer, Larry Larrew, will serve as acting superintendent.
