St. Louis Man Pleads Guilty in Fatal Crash
ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to causing a fatal crash while fleeing from police.
Twenty-year-old Markel Levonne Davis pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder and three other charges in a July 2009 accident that killed 24-year-old Erick Russell.
KSDK reports that Russell's car was broadsided in midtown St. Louis by a stolen car driven by Davis. Davis had driven off after police tried to stop him in north St. Louis County.
Judge Bryan Hettenbach ordered Davis to serve 15 years in prison on the second-degree murder and armed criminal action convictions, with both to run concurrent with the penalties for the other three crimes.
