Startup Weekend Brings Innovation, Entrepenuers Together
COLUMBIA - Entrepreneurs spent the weekend at Museao working on startup company ideas. After 54 hours of work, participants pitched their ideas to a panel of judges Sunday evening.
People of all skill sets, including mechanical engineers, came to Columbia this weekend to develop their startup ideas.
Startup Weekend focused on experiential education and winners received $2,000 in cash to pursue their ideas.
Sean Vermillion, a mechanical engineer, said he came into the weekend with an idea he felt strongly about, but did not know where to begin with marketing.
When he came to Museao Friday evening, he paired with two MU Marketing students who joined his team and helped develop his idea throughout the weekend.
Wade Foster won Columbia's Startup Weekend with his "Snapier App" - an easy way to sync data between Apps. Foster credits Bryan Helmig with the idea for the app. You can view the winning idea here.
