MOBERLY - Missouri Senate President Pro Tem Rob Mayer announced Monday that the Committee on Governmental Accountability will begin plans for an investigation into the Mamtek project in Moberly.
The project calls for building a sweetener factory and has recieved tax-payer funds from both the state and the city.
The project, and the 600 jobs it is supposed to bring, has been called into question after Mamtek neglected to make a bond payment. It also laid off its workers in early September.
The State Attorney General's office is also taking part in a similar, but separate investigation.
