Storms Not Expected to Let Up in Mid-Missouri Thursday
COLUMBIA - Storms are expected to subside in mid-Missouri in the midday hours Thursday, but the KOMU 8 Weather team expects severe weather to be on tap again in the late afternoon.
According to the KOMU 8 Weather Team, showers and t-storms will gradually diminish around the area by mid-morning.
However, KOMU 8 Weather's Eric Aldrich said drivers need to be careful because they will have to deal with minor flooding that developed in many areas after the overnight rainfall. Aldrich said drivers should never cross a water-covered roadway.
KOMU 8 Reporter Nicole Neidenberg reported near a water-covered roadway in Pettis County on KOMU 8 News Today on Thursday. A flood warning was in effect there until 9 a.m.
Aldrich said it will be partly cloudy through the early afternoon with temperatures warming quickly into the middle/upper 70s. Aldrich said mid-Missourians should expect to see another round of showers and thunderstorms around 3:30 p.m. Aldrich said some of these storms could be severe with large hail, strong winds and isolated tornadoes possible.
