Sturgeon police investigate death, roommate charged with stealing
STURGEON - The Sturgeon Police Department is investigating the death of a 36-year-old woman in February.
Police officers responded to a home on East Wall Street for a reported cardiac arrest Feb. 17. Responders tried CPR, but medics pronounced the victim dead when they arrived.
According to the press release, no one saw the woman collapse. Officers asked for the Boone County Medical Examiner's office to investigate, citing the lack of witnesses, the woman's young age, lack of known health problems, and admitted heroin use in the home. Autopsy results are pending.
Police told the residence's owner about the death. The owner later reported several items were stolen, including two air conditioners and a bed.
Ronnie Long was the other adult living in the home. Police arrested him on suspicion of stealing of the items. He was booked into the Boone County Jail.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department is helping with the death investigation.
