Suspect accused of stabbing man repeatedly during argument
COLUMBIA - Police said Friday they've arrested a suspect in connection to a stabbing incident on Wilkes Boulevard early Friday morning.
Officers arrested 66-year-old Samuel Monroe after an investigation into a call in the 500 block of Wilkes Boulevard just after 2:00 a.m. Friday. They said the investigation revealed Monroe and the 57-year-old victim were in a "physical argument" when Monroe grabbed a knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim repeatedly.
The report said the victim suffered several stab wounds to his stomach and back that are not life-threatening. Ambulances transported the victim to the hospital for his injuries.
Monroe faces charges including first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon and was in jail as of Friday on $4,500 bond.
