Suspect accused of wounding guard shot by police in buttocks
WELLSTON (AP) — Authorities say a man shot by police in suburban St. Louis after shooting a security guard is hospitalized with wounds to his buttocks.
St. Louis County Police said that the shootings happened Thursday after an armed Metro Security Officer confronted a 22-year-old man who was attempting to get on a train without a ticket. The suspect then shot the guard in the shoulder.
Police said two St. Louis County officers were riding the train and got off when they heard the shot. Police said the suspect unsuccessfully attempted to get into a moving car. Officers then chased the armed man and shot him after making commands. The suspect was taken to a hospital in critical condition with three wounds to his buttocks. A firearm was seized near the suspect.
