WENTZVILLE (AP) - Authorities said a 71-year-old suspect in the killing of a Georgia man was arrested in the eastern Missouri town of Wentzville.
The Wentzville Police Department and SWAT Team made the arrest Thursday night at a motel. WRBL-TV reported that the man is being sought in Tuesday's killing of 69-year-old Richard Byrd, of Stewart County, Georgia.
Stewart County Sheriff Larry Jones said Byrd was found with deep cut and stab wounds to the face. Assistant Special Agent Mike Walsingham with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said they found the weapon and were able to identify it as the suspect's.
The suspect is being held in St. Charles County on $100,000 bond while awaiting extradition to Georgia.
