Suspect Shot Near Hannibal
HANNIBAL, MO. (AP) - A 42-year-old suspect remains in critical condition after being shot by deputies near the northeast Missouri town of Hannibal.
KHQA-TV reports that the suspect's name has not been released following the shooting early Sunday.
Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Shinn says a motel owner near Cannon Dam called authorities about a possible break-in. A deputy spotted someone and a chase began that eventually included Hannibal police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The suspect crashed near a restaurant just outside of Hannibal. He allegedly pointed a rifle at deputies, who then shot the suspect. The deputies were not hurt. Both are on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
