Suspected Kidnapper Brian Adkison Pleads Guilty to Ohio Charges
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio - A Missouri man pleaded guilty Wednesday to five charges in Ohio including two counts of receiving stolen property, two counts of failure to comply [with authorities] and one charge of petty theft. His burglary charge was dropped.
A judge sentenced Brian Adkison to two years in the Loraine Correctional Institute near Cleveland. Adkison will receive credit for the 160 days he has served since his September arrest.
The failure to comply charges result from Adkison stealing a truck and a license plate and evading police in September in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
Morgan County, Mo. sheriff's deputies arrested Adkison in June on several charges, including kidnapping, sexual assault and forcible rape.
Authorities suspect Adkison kidnapped 23-year-old MU student, Lauren Crawford of Caldwell County. They say Adkison later escaped the Caldwell County Detention Center in August.
Once Adkison arrives at the Ohio correctional facility, he could be extradited to Missouri to face 11 charges, including kidnapping, rape and escape. He's charged with crimes in five Missouri counties.
