Suspects Evade K-9 Units and Helicopter in Rural Monroe County
MADISON - Missouri State Highway Patrol said two suspects are at large after they escaped authorities in rural Monroe County Saturday morning.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Sargent Brent Bernhardt said authorities do not know if the suspects are armed or dangerous, but for county residents to use caution.
Bernhardt said both the Missouri Highway Patrol troopers and Monroe County Sheriff's deputies continued to search for the suspects throughout Saturday. The Missouri Highway Patrol and Monroe County Sheriff's used K-9 units and a helicopter to search for the suspects Saturday morning. While the search is ongoing, those resources were called off.
Sergeant Bernhardt said the Sheriff's department received the call around 9:30 Saturday morning. They responded to the property about mile and half northwest of Madison. Property owners told dispatchers several individuals were on their property appearing to be burglarizing an outside shed. Bernhardt said the property is on Monroe County Road 1130.
Bernhardt said the suspects took off in a vehicle when they realized they had been seen. He said they then crashed a vehicle and took off on foot. One suspect was arrested, but both agencies are searching for the others.
Bernhardt said the agencies believe they know the identities of the suspects, but their names and descriptions are not being released at this time.
