PIERCE CITY (AP) - Residents in southwest Missouri are still recovering from last week's ice storm and are now bracing for the chance of more bad weather. Jo Allen, spokeswoman for the Lawrence County Emergency Operation Center in Pierce City, said hundreds of residents are still without power. She says the county is operating six shelters for residents hit hard by the ice and snow. Crews are working to bring residents back online, but she says roads in the area are still impassable. If more snow falls, she anticipates additional problems. Forecasters say a storm carrying the threat of more snow and ice is moving across the Southern Plains, with winter storm warnings from New Mexico and parts of Texas and Oklahoma. So far, no major warnings for Missouri.
