SW Mo. Woman Dies During Target Shooting
SARCOXIE (AP) - Jasper County sheriff's deputies say a 22-year-old southwest Missouri woman died after she was shot in the head while target shooting with friends.
KOAM-TV reports Kelly Crawford of Granby died Sunday morning after she was shot Saturday near Sarcoxie.
A 31-year-old Joplin man was arrested and held in the Jasper County jail.
Capt. Derek Walrod said deputies responding to the scene found Crawford with the head wound. A police report says the owner of the home said a group of friends were target shooting when Crawford was injured.
Walrod says the suspect apparently was handling a firearm in a negligent way when it discharged and a bullet hit Crawford. No other arrests were made.
