Task Force Seeks New 'Integrated' Environmental Plan
SPRINGFIELD (AP) - A new task force is hoping to make environmental decisions that consider challenges faced by the City of Springfield, Greene County and City Utilities of Springfield.
The Environmental Priorities Task Force held its first work session on Tuesday, focusing on the area's water resources. Errin Kemper, Springfield's assistant director of environmental services, says the task force will consider scientific data, but also what the area's priorities are and financial resources.
The Springfield News-Leader reports the group has been asked to develop an environmental vision statement for the community, with specific goals for each environmental resource.
They also will define community environmental priorities and develop ways to implement possible solutions.
The task force has four more meetings scheduled through mid-July.
