Teen charged in deaths of rural northwest Missouri couple
ST. JOSEPH (AP) - A 16-year-old has been charged in the shooting deaths of a couple in rural northwest Missouri Saturday.
The Kansas City Star reported that the teen is in juvenile custody. Fifth Judicial Circuit chief juvenile officer Linda Meyer said he's been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of 72-year-old James Johnson and 76-year-old Betty Johnson.
Their bodies were found around 1 a.m. Saturday outside a home as Buchanan County deputies were responding to a request to check on the well-being of the residents. The teen was taken into custody at a different location.
