Teenager suffers life threatening injuries in I-70 crash
COLUMBIA - Four teenagers were taken to the hospital Friday morning following a vehicle crash on I-70, according to the Columbia Police Department.
Officers said the teens were traveling eastbound on I-70 near the Stadium Boulevard exit when the driver, 17-year-old Isabelle Bynum, lost control of the vehicle and began to fishtail. The vehicle spun in a circle, hit the guardrail and then flipped over, ejecting two of the passengers, according to CPD.
Authorities said 17-year-old Courtney Ayers suffered life threatening injuries, and 17-year-old Taylor Fisher suffered moderate injuries. Neither Ayers nor Fisher were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, CPD said.
Bynum and 18-year-old Drake Barnhill suffered minor injuries; they were both wearing their seat belts, police said.
