COLUMBIA - The Salvation Army may fall short of its yearly campaign goal. It expected to collect $352,710 this year, but has only raised $260,000.

The Salvation Army needs to collect $11,750 a day until the end of the year to meet its goal.

On Monday, the popular red kettles where many people donate will end. But, the charitable organization will continue to collect personal donations.

Employees say they hope people understand how valuable donations are.

"We're running a little short of our campaign this year. So those last donations and everything are very very valuable and so I just hope that folks who do choose to give to us understand how appreciative we are," says Major Richard Trimmell.

Donations go toward services such as a shelter for women and parents with children, classes for youth and emergency assistance.
