Three Curators Say Goodbye
Floyd announced Wednesday that he is leaving UM to become president of Washington State University. He is confident the curators will find the right person to succeed him.
"We are going to continue the very solid foundation we have in place and I think it will work out exceptionally well," Floyd told the board.
"I think it was good timing, actually," said John Andersen, MU student president. "I think it is positive to have this happen right around the time the curators are meeting. That way, everyone is in the same place and can talk about it."
Three curators, Tom Atkins, Angela Bennett and Anne Ream, also are wrapping up their service to the University of Missouri system. At Friday's meeting, the board picked Don Walsworth as next year's chairman. He and other members expect the UM system to pay its next president more than Floyd's $436,000 annual salary.
