ST. THOMAS - Three people were killed Thursday when their car collided with a tractor-trailer truck south of Jefferson City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on Route B near St. Thomas in southern Cole County.

The victims were identified as 44-year-old William E. Coons, 58-year-old Wanda L. Coons, and 12-year-old Shadrach Rowden, all of Meta.

The patrol said a car driven by William Coons crossed the center line and struck a truck driven by 53-year-old John G. Birkner, of Coulterville, Ill.

Birkner was not seriously injured.
