Three Mizzou basketball players to try out NBA Draft
COLUMBIA - Three Mizzou basketball players announced on Tuesday they will be testing the waters of the NBA Draft.
Xavier Pinson, Mitchell Smith, and Jeremiah Tilmon will all enter the draft pool, but Mizzou Athletics said all three players have taken the steps to retain their eligibility for next season.
Pinson, the lone rising junior of the group, had an explosive sophomore season. The guard averaged 11 points on 40 percent from the field. But, conference play was really where fans saw more of Pinson. In his final nine games, he score 18.9 points per game, including a career-high 32 points against Ole Miss.
Tilmon appeared in only 17 games for the Tigers this season due to a leg injury. However, he did manage to rack up a team-best of 21 blocked shots. The forward's field goal percentage of 56 percent ties for the fourth-best in program history.
Much like Pinson, Smith saw his best year in the black and gold in the 2019-2020 season. He set career highs in points, rebounds, and assists. The junior also saw his best numbers from the charity stripe, setting a new single-season record for the program.
The NBA's deadline for withdrawing from the draft is June 3rd.
