Tiger Baseball Blows Out SLU
Mizzou knocked out the Billikens' starter by scoring seven runs in the first two innings on only three hits, including a bases-loaded triple by Zane Taylor.
MU added five in the fourth. After an RBI single by Brock Bond and a walk to Derek Chambers, the Tigers' Gary Arndt hit a grand slam. The shot to left field was Arndt's second homer of the season and put the Tigers up 12-0.
Jacob Priday hit his third homer of the season, a two-run shot in the fifth, capping a three-for-three day at the plate with three runs scored. Tiger reserves added the final runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
Stephan Houlst pitched five and two-thirds innings of shutout ball for the Tigers, allowing only four hits and striking out six. Brant Combs pitched an inning and a third, striking out four.
Mizzou outhit SLU 13-5, but SLU had no timely hitting, and did not advance a runner past second base.
Missouri improved to 9-5 on the season. The Tigers start a three-game weekend series Friday at Taylor Stadium against Purdue.
