Tigers Cope with Tough Loss
"You don't get moral victories," MU Coach Mike Anderson said. "We're not into moral victories. We came to win. We just want to continue to get better. I think that's how I'm going to address our basketball team. We have to get better."
Junior guard Stefhon Hannah said, "It's tough because we had the game won. We just couldn't come down the stretch with it. We made a few bad mistakes, missed a couple free throws. It's tough when you lose like that. It's worse than losing by 20."
Junior forward Kalen Grimes added, "We know we can play with anybody. Illinois is a good team, and if we would have hit a couple of free throws it would have been the other way. But, like I said, an L is an L. We got to swallow it, but we know we can play with them."
Forward Matt Lawrence said, "Just for our guys to step up and calm ourselves down and go right back at them is a great sign for us. [It's] a great sign for things to come."
The Tigers host the Southern University Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 30 in a game televised on KOMU.
