Tigers Topple No. 6 Vanderbilt in Series Opener
COLUMBIA – Missouri Tigers’ Baseball had its biggest win of the season as they take down No. 6 Vanderbilt 2-1.
As for much of the season, the Tiger’s pitching dominated once again.
TJ Sikkema did well in the Thursday night start, going 6 innings and recording a career-high 10 strikeouts. The sophomore gave up seven hit and a run but the hype from 10 K’s was enough to keep the momentum going.
Andy Toelken, who has been in just about every role this season, thrived in his role as a reliever tonight.
Pitching the final three innings, the senior did not let a single Commodore touch first as he went a perfect 7-8-9 to close out the game with 4 strikeouts.
The offense provided two runs for the Tigers without any extra-base hits as they worked four singles out of Drake Fellows and they came at the right time as Trey Harris and Matt Berler picked up RBI’s for Missouri.
The series continues tomorrow at 6:30 PM on the SEC Network+ as Tyler LaPlante takes the bump tomorrow after going 6 innings, giving up 3 earned runs and 5 hits over No. 1 Florida last Saturday.
