Tigers Win a Close One with the Warhawks
The Warhawks came back in the fifth with four runs, three of them unearned, and forced Tiger starting pitcher Greg Folgia to an early exit after four and two-thirds innings. Louisiana-Monroe earned the same amount of time from their starter Kye Wilson, who gave up four earned runs on five hits.
The Tigers started the seventh inning with a strikeout by Frey and a walk to Brock Bond. Bond stole second following John McKee's strikeout to put a runner in scoring position with two outs. Ryan Lollis broke the 4-4 tie with a what proved to be the game-winning base hit to centerfield, scoring Bond from second.
Brant Combs pitched the final two and two-thirds innings for the win, striking out Ben Soignier to end the game. A.J. Ford took the loss for the Warhawks, after surrendering Lollis' seventh-inning winner.
Mizzou finishes out their two-game series with the Warhawks on Wednesday night, before heading to Dallas for a Saturday doubleheader with Texas State and Dallas Baptist.
