Traffic TIF at Lake
Developers want to use Tax Increment Financing, using funds from property taxes, to help pay for the project. So, this proposed TIF would take some money from Lake Ozark schools' share of local property taxes.
The superintendent of the Lake Ozark School District did not comment on the proposed TIF, but instead issued a statement which said, "The hope is that the new development would bring in more businesses, which would increase sales tax revenues, some of which would go to local schools."
City Administrator Charlie Clark said, "Our citizens are overwhelmingly in favor of this. It's the same community that we serve. It's the same community saying, 'We can do both.'"
Residents just voted to increase real estate taxes, which help fund Lake Ozark schools.
