MONROE COUNTY — A train hit an 80-year-old man's truck Saturday afternoon, killing the driver and totaling his vehicle, according to an online traffic crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
A coroner pronounced the truck driver, Stanley Thurman of Paris, dead over an hour after the wreck, according to the report. Thurman was reportedly wearing a seatbelt.
The report says Thurman failed to yield to the train while traveling south on County Road 235, one mile west of Paris. The train hit the truck just after 1 p.m., knocking it to the side of the railroad tracks.
