Transform Jefferson City Supporters Undeterred
JEFFERSON CITY - Transform Jefferson City released a video Friday morning stating that it will not give up on its campaign despite getting voted down Tuesday night.
Transform Jefferson City was a campaign to increase sales tax in Jefferson City and use that tax money to fund restoration projects such as the prison and convention center around town. The video states that "[The Jefferson City] community engaged in a conversation about our future and our vision."
Vice President of the Jefferson City Downtown Association, Donna Deetz, said the campaign is far from over. "We're not looking at this as a stopping point, it's really just a beginning," said Deetz. "A lot of the things that we talked about in those meetings started to transpire."
Jefferson City resident, Chris Galloway thinks the campaign was stopped because of the economy. "Asking people for more money nowadays, especially when it comes to city projects or state funding or anything like that is gonna be a no."
