Trial begins for woman accused of forging docs to kill father
LEBANON - Jury selection began Tuesday in the trial of a woman accused of killing her father by forging documents to take him off life support. Susan Van Note is a suspect in the shooting that critically wounded William Van Note and killed his girlfriend, Sharon Dickson.
Camden County prosecutors said a home intruder shot the couple at their Lake of the Ozarks vacation home in October 2010.
Dickson died at the scene, and WIlliam Van Note was put on life support.
Prosecutors said four days later, Susan Van Note produced a document showing she had durable power of attorney for her father's health care decisions, leading doctors to remove him from life support
Investigators later said the document was forged and charged Susan Van Note in her father's death, then went back and charged her in Dickson's death as well.
Van Note posted a $1 million bond after her arrest.
She pleaded not guilty in October 2013 to charges connecting her to both deaths.
