Two accused of drug possession in Moniteau County; arrested in corn field
MONITEAU COUNTY - Sheriff's deputies arrested a man and a woman accused of possession of a controlled substance on Tuesday, after responding to a report of a trespassing in a corn field.
Deputies were dispatched to the area of Old Swiss and Brush Creek Roads, and said they found Jessica Iven, 33, and Byron Smith, 34, both of California.
Deputies said they ran Iven and Smith's information and found both were on probation or parole.
Deputies said they then asked for consent to search the vehicle, which was granted, and found methamphetamine in a glass smoking device.
Both Iven and Smith were then taken into custody and transported to the Moniteau County Jail.
They were being held on $25,000 bond, the sheriff's department office.
