Two arrested after armed robbery attempt on Bass Avenue
COLUMBIA - Columbia police arrested two people in connection with an attempted armed robbery in the 1400 block of Bass Avenue Saturday night.
Police said a 25-year-old man was trying to sell a personal item online. The individual buying the item sent a message saying they arrived at the victim's residence and when the victim went outside to look for the buyer, he was attacked from behind by two suspects.
In a struggle, the victim said he heard a "pop" noise and the two suspects fled the scene.
Police said shortly after, officers were notified of someone admitted to University Hospital with a gunshot wound. Officers made contact with the man in the hospital and identified him as Trevion Travis, 22. Another subject at the hospital was identified as Devon Bush, 22.
Police determined the two men were the suspects in the attempted armed robbery and arrested them.
One hour after the robbery, Travis and Bush were arrested on suspicion of robbery and armed criminal action.
