Two Arrested After Cutting Home's Copper Water Lines
JEFFERSON CITY - Police arrested two men Monday after responding to a home burglary.
Police arrested Willie Dee Howard, 42, and Matthew Robert Koenigsfeld, 20, in relation to the burglary.
Police got the call around 4 p.m. Monday of a burglary in progress at the 900 block of Moreau Drive. The property owner and other witnesses saw two men at the house.
One man was standing in the backyard when the owner and witnesses arrived. The other man was crawling out from underneath the rear garage door. Both fled on foot, but were later arrested.
Officers conducted an investigation and found the suspects allegedly cut all of the copper water lines in the basement and had damaged the water line. This resulted in water spilling into the basement of the home.
Howard was arrested for posession of a controlled substance, possesuin if burglar's tools, and burglary in the second degree.
Koenigsfeld was arrested for possession of burglar's tools and second degree burglary.
Both suspects are being held at Cole County Jail.
