Two Columbia Men Arrested After Shots Fired
BOONE COUNTY - On Tuesday April 30, 2013 at about 8 p.m., Boone County deputies responded to several citizen reports of a vehicle traveling south in the 9000 block of Route J. Several of the occupants were observed shooting from the vehicle.
Deputies caught up to the vehicle in the area of Route J and Highway 40. An attempt to stop the vehicle resulted in a pursuit southbound on Route J and Route O. The vehicle turned onto Roby Farm Rd. and drove down a long private drive before stopping. Two of the four occupants were immediately taken into custody. The other two occupants fled into a wooded area.
The two men arrested were 22-year-old Marland Lane, and 21-year-old Jamil Edwards of Columbia. Lane was arrested for receiving stolen property, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and several outstanding traffic warrants. Edwards was arrested for receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies, along with M.S.H.P. personnel, utilized a department K-9 to search for the two outstanding occupants. They were not located.
Stolen property, including a firearm, was recovered from the vehicle.
The remaining two occupants are being sought by deputies. At this time, their identities are not being released.
