Two credit union robbery suspects in custody
COLUMBIA - Missouri State Highway Patrol said two suspects are in custody after troopers said the men were involved in a robbery at the Missouri Credit Union on Buttonwood Drive Wednesday afternoon.
Columbia Police said officers were dispatched to the credit union at 5:02 p.m. after receiving a report that two men entered the credit union and demanded money. The suspects left with an undetermined amount of money and drove off, but no weapons were used in the robbery and no injuries were reported at the scene.
MSHP confirmed police then chased the robbery suspects through Columbia after locating their car near Discovery Parkway and Highway 63. When the suspects reached the intersection of Parker and Vandiver Drive, a witness told KOMU 8 he saw the suspects swerving when a highway patrol car hit the suspects' car, ending the chase.
Columbia Police said the trooper was able to take one suspect into custody near the vehicle. The second suspect fled from the vehicle on foot and was chased by law enforcement. MSHP Troopers, with the assistance of the Boone County Sheriff's Department and Columbia Police, took the second suspect into custody near Garnet and Parker.
KOMU 8 will continue to update the story as we receive more information
